NaPoWriMo2014 ~ National Poetry Writing Month ~ The End

NaPoWriMo2014 ~

National Poetry Writing Month ~

30 Poems In 30 Days ~

As we created the gods they must be crazy~

There were times I didn't think I'd make it. April is a rough month. This month carries the anniversary of two deaths. This year a third was added. There were other issues. The month started with difficulty but ended with thirty.

Made it through the ink and fire! Thank you for taking the journey with me!

NaPoWriMo2014 #30 ~ Touch

I didn't think I was capable of being

too old
too fat
too out of practice

The shadow of a person everyone begins as

as conversation grows

He expanded with every sentence

and I surprisingly matched his growth
back and forth
until our colors brightened
and we became well rounded

Then it happened

our gestures hung on our words
and suddenly flesh to flesh we were

NaPoWriMo2014 #29 ~ Defying Gravity

Thrown into the deep end
without lesson or good advice
I flail and spin
eyes stinging with coulda, shoulda, woulda
ears pounding with old expectations

I see the light above me
bright and blurry
Sometimes I think I feel
oxygen on my hand
just before I slip down
I'm not sure
as I've long since forgotten
the weight of air

Only the pressure of water
the warmth of its embrace
so useless
so familiar

Do I swim up
Might the light I see
be the sun's reflection
on the bottom of the pool
and I move down
always down
because who am I
to defy gravity

NaPoWriMo2014 #28 ~ Coggshall Park

City's version of nature
a stone veranda visitor center
not been used for a while
was a greeting
now a great place for a haunting

I was wrong about the version
so right about the haunting

There was an echo of a neighbor's voice
and a vision of my grandmother and her friend
across the water

Stone outcrops among the trees
reminds of battles past
when this land was not a park
but a home

Trees in the middle of the paths
roots outstretched
Protectors or Foreboders
small red paint dots on some
marked as guardians
or marked for death

Turtles and geese watch me
or ignore me
I suppose I am the trespasser here
and nothing gives the cold shoulder
like a duck

The smell of the forest changes
when near the human made bridge
thankfully the sea diamonds do not use lose their sparkle
across Mirror lake

The Boy Who Waited/True Believer

grew up
grew old

Damn you to Hell

NaPoWriMo2014 #26 ~ Things That Should Be Lost

Things That Should Be Lost

I found a sheet of stickers on the floor of a fast food joint
They were young, colorful
florescent chicks
vibrant bees
butterflies and doves
white lambs
orange carrots
pink bunnies
and decorated eggs
They were Easter themed
but not commercial-holiday-Easter...

A symbol of an old gruesome form of capital punishment
was emblazoned on those old round fertility symbols
The representation of the death of a god
who sacrificed himself to himself
to save humanity from his anger
after forcing a child-girl
to carry, birth and raise him
without her permission
telling her it was her honor

Was it a child-girl who lost the stickers
while waiting for her burger and fires
Is her family raising her to sacrifice herself
to a bronze iron age death cult
grown to a twenty-first century super power

When she's a woman will she alter how she
for the approval of a mythological sky god
who would damn her to an eternal lake of fire
if she doesn't believe she's nothing without him

All our deities have their moments
then peel off time
and become history

It's long past time to lose
the comforting adult fairy tales
unstick the indoctrinations
and drop the faith

NaPoWriMo2014 #25 ~ Cauldron Bed

Cauldron Bed

I was formed inside a cauldron

stirred together by a bone spoon
touched by generations
the marrow long since fed upon
by bone mites

Blood of the ancestors soaked me

pinches of black block cognitive functions
ladles of obedience
not an ounce of questioning
broken yellow wings of fear
dull dabs of gray laziness
and a few strawberries
to make it seem normal

I may have birthed from that iron circle

but it's always been inside me
Heavy and collecting ingredients
edible addictions
mental obsessions
slowly taking the place
of movement
of conversation

It's the only ambitious thing about me left

it's expanding
under my skin
familial larvae

My only energy

the viciousness of my empty emotions

My only character foundation

the weight of my existence

I keep clicking the remote

watching the creativity
the living
of others
as I spread further over my bed
and continue
to slowly drown

NaPoWriMo2014 #24 ~ Bathroom Dream

Bathroom Dream

The migraines come more often now
bills for bad choices made

Washing my face with cold water
looking to the day
encapsuled in this room

Urine in the bathtub
on the floor
in the washing mat

Feces around the bowl
towels and toilet paper
strewn in every line of sight

The family screaming
destroying the other room

How did I get here?
Oh, that's right
I was born here
and leaving was the dream

NaPoWriMo2014 #23 ~ An End For Professional Malice

An End For Professional Malice

As I pulled my letter opener out of his eye
it stuck
Seems blood and brain holds quite a suction
like gossip

He won't be using personal information
as a coward's sword again

I thought about licking the opener
do we really taste like chicken
but I've already had my fill of him
and his malice

Instead his office disinfectant
cleaned it off
and his own opener when in him

Falling with a letter opener
such a clumsy way to die

He should've watched where his mouth was going

I begin to scream

NaPoWriMo2014 #22 ~ I Think I'll Kill Someone Today

I Think I'll Kill Someone Today

It's certainly been a long time coming
The childhood of teasings and beatings,
of what not to think
The teens of exclusion and ugliest cunt,
of not what I should be
Decades of others feelings
before reality
of others relationships
before truth
Being thought cold
because I'm not chatty
Being thought mean
because I'm direct
I tell no lies
I seek no gossip
the malice always finds me
I think I'm done
dealing with verbal knives
I think it's time
to deal out death

NaPoWriMo2014 #21 ~ Decades Recipe

Decades Recipe

Start with a base of childhood,
add a stock of school,
a whopping of teens,
a percolation of twenties,
a simmering of thirties,
burn it with forties...

Start with a base of fifties...

NaPoWriMo2014 #20 ~ Phantom

I always padded around close to the ground
lower than everyone else

but I got the goodies they dropped and forgot

Pets on the head
scratches on the back
rubs on the chest
their strange appendages made me feel good

So tall
and only on two
I thought they'd fall more

Once I wasn't feeling well
and tried to get one of them
to let me out of their big box
but she was too busy

I puked on her feet

Another time the young female left a goody
a dark creamy circle
sitting on a low table

Mine now

She didn't like that

They have me chase bouncy things
not sure why
but it's fun

Don't like when the young male
sets the bouncy thing on fire
I rush to put it out
He makes a weird noise
that sounds the way my tail feels
when I'm happy

I don't think about the first group
that original pack of hairless apes

I like this strange herd

I'll be their leader
they can use the focus
I don't mind the rubs

NaPoWriMo2014 #19 ~ An Ocean Of Experimentation

An Ocean Of Experimentation

My lover and I wanted to break out of our shells
so we rented a cottage by the sea
where we could ride our own waves
while working through our own storms

We started simply
a little leather donax
and a strawberry top

Then we moved to the back
a couple of incised moons
with ghastly miters
which brought on tuberculate emarginula
in us both

So we rested on our stomachs for a bit

We rose as if out of a lazarus jewel box
and came together with a vengeance

A little trim for a sparse dove
and a full shuttlecock volva
until we suffered glorious striped engina

Some tea and a false-cup-and-saucer
to send us off to sleep
floating in each other's arms

NaPoWriMo2014 #18 ~ Pen Sense

Pen Sense

An emerald sea of words
are always ready to ink forth
at my command

Smooth verses hidden in its top
rough plotlines deep in its point
and all are in my grasp

The mild whiff of rubber
reminding me to hold on
yet move with the flow
of my story

The click signals start
the next signals stop
the color always signals

NaPoWriMo2014 #17 ~ Yes To N.O.

Yes To N.O.

I knew she didn't want to take me with her

I was very clinical in my request

We were loud and boisterous in our discussion

Plying her with chocolates and Martini and Rossi Asti Spumante

It would have been so bad to stay with Father not Mother

Nothing but truth was spoken

So glad I said yes

Yes to leaving my home

Yes to a new step-father in prison

NaPoWriMo2014 #16 ~ No

Why did she want to take the child with her?

Why did she make it sound so romantic?

Why the quiet talk?

Why the popcorn and sweets?

Would it have been so bad to leave her?

Would it have been so bad to be with Father not Mother?

Why the lies?

I should have said no

NaPoWriMo2014 #15 ~ A Womb Worth Using

A Womb Worth Using

Sloughing off the lining
the gunk of forty-one years
out the new old exit below

All the putrid bile
of what to think
the knotted clots
of what to do
the rotted flesh
of giving in

Sluicing clean
the walls
to give birth
to the half-century me

NaPoWriMo2014 #14 ~ Door Way

Door Way

Scrape scrape
like thorns on flesh
I heard it from the other side
as I clicked the lock
and pulled the handle

Out she lunged
vicious speed
drunken breath
lightening hair

Full of the rage this house births
the bulging emptiness
poison devotion
paralyzing ambition

Down comes her matriarchal blade
through the heart
she said I didn't have

NaPoWriMo2014 #13 ~ Kintsukuroi (Golden Repair)

Kintsukuroi (Golden Repair)

My history is full
of damage and repair
It's not disguised
but illuminated

Each crack lined
with gold dust
Each piece
fully existing in the moment

Life doesn't have to end
with breakage

Pay no mind to the change
accept the broken beauty

NaPoWriMo2014 #11 ~ Dionysus And Aphrodite

Dionysus And Aphrodite

Wine and love
ivy twining with myrtle
bulls running with horses
swans swimming with serpents
Love and wine
seashells and pinecones
take all the symbols
saturate the skin
falling in to intoxication
drunk on grapes and flesh

NaPoWriMo2014 #10 ~ Truth In Advertising

Truth In Advertising

The comfort of the coffin
is not for us

It is a replacement host
for those we have carried in life

The silk pillow
becomes bed for Demodex
satin linings
become blankets for the family
E. faecalis
B. bifidum
E. coli

So how about a little honesty

Caskets -
expensive retirement homes
for mites and bacteria
protection from the elements included
you provide the perishable

NaPoWriMo2014 #9 ~ The Joke's On Me

The Joke's On Me

It should've been a stepping stone
a foundation
a leg up
a beginning
not quicksand

Isn't that what home should be
a sturdy boat on an ocean
a safe world, child
'til you float down your own river, man
not a whirlpool

"Follow me
stay with me"

and I did
traveled through time
without moving a minute

Life's pulled a fast one
on this slow one

Kinky Poem

I'll give a kinky poem
with whips, chains,
and chandeliers

I'll give you fetish prose
with anal plugs, cock rings,
and pedicured feet

Is that what you want
edible body paint
and hot candle wax

Body fluids for milkshakes and war paint
leather beds and feather masks

Mark the spot with chocolate sauce
little deaths
god in the night
fame in the light

and I'll see you again
in the next sexy sonnet
