Monsters In My Closet

Monsters In My Closet

I used to have monsters in my closet at night
Religion
Delusion
Obedience
Arrogance
Ignorance
So many learned demons
blending in with the timeless wallpaper and bowing shelves
like carelessly packed mementos of dry bloodless summers

Now they pry themselves off hanging hooks
and the swinging door speaks their cackle of devoured dreams
as they slip  out of their walk-in tomb
wearing the stench of forever

Seasons To Spare

Seasons To Spare

Manipulated water shoots up high
then falls down low
drops in a fountain
making me dizzy
and the ground looks to tremble
as forest dust flits by

Everything’s an idea
Everything is wind
Every fantasy seems worthy
of it’s own bloom

But seasons to spare
I no longer have
as time begins to burn
and I waste it
walking on fattening ankles
through monkey-brained woods
watching droplets fall
