You Don't Touch Me Anymore

You Don't Touch Me Anymore

You showed me a man
of exploration
of sexuality
in deed and word

A man who inspired desire
who wanted to write poetry
with our bodies

And you wanted to make love to my mind
have me read my words to you
over hot tea

Then the morning came
and you couldn't wait to run home to mommy and daddy

School yard hand holding and chaste kisses
replaced the warmth you fueled in me
Forgetfulness took the place
of romantic words read in low light

You have your explanations
as mild as your behavior has become
and though you say you still want me
you barely touch me anymore
