Xavier In The Forest

Xavier In The Forest

Little feet
wrapped in thimble boots under a sparkling blanket
now running
on emerald grass

Tiny hands
held immobile with arms sprouting tubes of hopeful fluid
now caressing
the bark of a thousand years

Immature lungs
forced open by plastic air
now expanding
to inhale the sky

Closed eyes
far too young to be burnt by electricity
now open
taking in the rabbit, the deer, the sun

Damaged brain
blood drowning the soul
now clear
able to encompass eternity through the trees
