Vision

Vision

I have allowed time to go on without me again
Let the land of make believe embrace me in warm
useless familiarity
Nymph and Imp pull and push
Passion and Complacency
It is difficult to live passionately
when one's desire is to have a flame
a spark
a productive obsession
A fire that burns with creative energy
not life consuming hunger
I wish to nourish my self on the universe
not be fed upon by dull comfort
To give back to the ages
some of the force I breath
in a new form
molded in my mind
and set in the kiln of my soul
so that one day
another's spark may ignite
from the sight of my vision

Tapestry

Tapestry

Moments to memories to threads
Words to actions to stitches
Waking to living to weaving
Sometimes choosing the colors carefully
Often creating the patterns randomly
Occasionally patches are garish
clashing in ways unforeseen
Work in new threads
Knit a healing
Sew a new future
Don't pull to unravel
for what looks garish before
can come to glow later
Let the design expand
and warm you
till it's time to set down the needles
and pick up the scissors

Red

Red

I write in red
the color of my wants
the view of my mood

I swim in blood
thick
sticky
devoid of living

My heart harbors in garnet
smooth
glassy
flat

Emotions lay in ruby
hard
stagnant
unfeeling

My body is in soft red
doughy
spreading

I am not the red
of the passionate life
Desired
Lustful
Loving
Pure

Beyond My Tattoo

Beyond My Tattoo

Behind bars
both those I built
and those erected by others
I pace
always back
never forth
attempting to ignore the taunts
that tempt my tolerance
Guilt thrown at me
Startled
I bare my fangs reflexively
roaring in the face of manipulation
My muscles brace to run
over
under
around
thru
my tattoo
Into the future's wilderness I go
flushing guilt down a clear creek
Fearful freedom I embrace
no longer caged
all animal

Past Wars

Past Wars

Burning holes into my daily thoughts
slights long ago received
memory grenades
remembered and exploding
drowning my mood in acid fire

Moments expanded on
pistol shot becomes machine gun
what might have beens
if the trigger had been held down

Wars fought and not begun
violence welling up
a flame thrown across my day
igniting old should've
would've
could'ves

I engage enemies long gone
fight to retake fields long abandoned
relive battles the adversaries have forgotten
using old anger as canon fire

How to end the shell shocked march thru my past
break camp
and find home
amidst the echo of bullets

Ashes Of The Phoenix

Ashes of the Phoenix

Reading thru the lines of my life
watching my mistakes of loneliness walk away form me again
I've been filled with the emptiness
from the bad boys with the great good guy facades

I've placed my trust in the fire stoked with the lust of fools
Seared by my honesty
when I handed them my truth
which they forged into the dagger they gave to me with my heart

Burnt, bloody and alone
I scrape away the dryness
peeled off the dead
till even the air stung

How to avoid the flames that remove the flesh
and attract the ones that raise the phoenix

What do I look for in the torch bearer?

A bloodless sword?
Truthful lips?
A good guy with a great bad boy facade?

Fulfillment walking toward me
wanting to be written in the lines of my life
